Incoming Reinforcements

So I'm back again! And I have been busy! One of my good friends is demanding a bruising from the Sons of the Night Haunter and as such it is full steam ahead to get a 1000 pt list painted up to face off against his Space Pups...

So I've sat down and put pen to paper (or rather pushed a load of buttons thanks to Quartermaster) and this is the current list I'm working towards

Sakraal 'The Butcher' (Khârn the Betrayer)

The Condemned (6 Khorne Berzerkers): + 1 Berzerker Champion (bolt pistol; lightning claw)

First Claw (4 Chaos Space Marines): 4× close combat weapon; meltagun; + 1 Aspiring Champion (bolt pistol; power fist)
Chaos Rhino

Second Claw (4 Chaos Space Marines): 4× close combat weapon; flamer; + 1 Aspiring Champion (bolt pistol; power weapon)
Chaos Rhino

Murderous Intent (Chaos Land Raider): dirge caster

Relentless Fury (Sicaran Battle Tank): Sponson Heavy Bolters

This drops in at a point shy of the 1000 mark and I hope will be a nasty army to face across the table, we've always had pretty brutal games and I don't expect this to be any different.

So here are the first shots of 'First Claw' no... not 'The' First Claw...

There is a nice group shot of them, need to do the bases, which shouldn't take too long as it's a nice simple colour scheme.

Not sure about the fella on our left he looks very awkward... But hey he'll do for now... I decided to add a little extra in that they all have a bronze knee pad, this is to help associate the Chapter together on the field

I'm very happy with the post of the guy on our right, I think he oozes character and definitely looks ready to 'stick you with the pointy bit' of his dagger. Plan on teaching myself how to add heat effects to spice up the other guy's melta.

Lots of touch up needed here but this is the Squad Leader, those 'eagle-eyed' will notice he has a non forge world part 'boo-hiss' but it's such a nice power fist it would have been rude not too...

So you know how I said I'd been busy right?

Massively work in progress needs a lot of touching up and a few more washes but it's a start...

It's already started to be 'Night Lordsified' with the skulls and chains, I'm impatiently waiting for them to release some Brass Etch for the VIII Legion to add the Legion symbol and trying to decide should the vehicles name 'Relentless Fury' be in low gothic or in Nostramun Runes or maybe both...

Obligatory family shot! So erm yeah until next time?

The Condemned

So here we are again and I hope you are all sat down as you're all in for a rather nasty shock...

Yes it's true, your eyes do not deceive you! I have finally put paint to brush and brush to model and started the process of actually painting my Night Lords.

I present to you The Condemned, which in games set during the Horus Heresy will be used as a Night Lords Terror Squad and in games set after will be used as Khorne Bezerkers.

The background of this unit is that they're made up of the Astartes that have angered the Chapter Master and as such he has sentenced them to a sinner's death, banded together they are seen as completely expendable and as such are used as shock troops by Mordus to break through the Enemy lines.

I estimate that the unit is about 50% painted, what you see here is the bases complete and the base colours picked out, now the details just need to be filled in, but unfortunately that's the long bit...

As said before its all the details that need finishing now, I'm sure I'll get round to adding some more trophies at some point, but until next time

The Legion Descends

As many of you will agree, sometimes there is a deal on eBay that is too good to resist, this came through my door the other day, saving me over 100 quid from buying directly from Forge World.

Contents:

Sevatar
5 Cataphractii Terminators + Power Fists
4x 5 MK: IV Assault Marines
5 MK: IV Destroyers
MkIV weapons pack
30 MK IV Night Lords Shoulder Pads
30 32 mm Bases

Combine this with a couple of other deals I've also managed to grab and I have a decent amount of Night Lords to build, a few bits to get from Forge World to complete them but I'm getting there...

So of course I couldn't resist putting a few models together...

I present Kaleesh 'The Undying'. The captain of the 234th Night Lords Company, struck down by Eldar pirates before the outbreak of the heresy, Kaleesh was interred in a Contemptor sarcophagus.

The 234th were now leaderless, however with the brutal murders of both his successor and his successor's successor, it became apparent that the 234th would accept no-one as their Captain but Kaleesh.

Kaleesh retained his Captaincy with Caylath the Company Champion acting as an Equerry to the Contemptor.

This Contemptor Dreadnought I've had waiting for an appropriate base for ages, finally found Fulgrim's display base and thought that would be perfect!

The build isn't quite finished yet  and I'm planning on swapping out the Heavy Bolters for a Kheres Assault Cannon but he is just about ready for paint...

here we can see Kaleesh supporting the terror squad designated the Condemned

A Trip Down Memory Lane

So as I mentioned in my last post, this next one is to feature some of the work that I have done in the past that I am particularly proud of... This also adds a little colour to the blog otherwise its just inevitably going to be a sea of grey.

so without further ado, I present to you a Bad Moons Ork Lifta Wagon:

I remember this taking an age to paint as the model is so large. I looked around on google for a while for inspiration and saw numerous examples of this painted up in Deathskull colours, and felt like doing something a little more out the box.

While a lovely kit and being very happy with the finished result I remember that two things, one it was a massive pain to put together as the lifta-kannon was so heavy, and two it took ages to paint. I was particularly happy at how the yellow came out, with a quick wash of Nuln Oil/Badab Black Wash it gave it a nice grimey look.

I had intended at the time for this to be a start to a Battlewagon Brigade from the small bit of fluff in the codex about the Mighty Mangler of Bork, but alas like so many other ideas, I got side tracked...

...By these guys, of course First Claw were going to feature in this post! One of the things that I most enjoy about the whole warhammer universe is the background, especially the books from Black Library. If you are reading this and haven't read Aaron Dembski-Bowden's Night Lords Trilogy, then shame on you!

This squad cost me a pretty penny as I tried to make my representations of them as accurate as possible. I ordered numerous parts from the internet, to make sure that they looked worthy of the characters I was attempting to bring to life.

Many an hour was spent painting these guys and part of me is itching to re-do them, but the more sensible side shudders at the thought of the time and the cost it would take to improve on this basis.

That's it for now, when I get the time I'll make a second part to this, but I may have to take some photos first :D

Here we go again!

So here we are again, this is actually my third incarnation of a blog, the first was overrun by wannabe Chinese poets the second I managed to lock myself out 😂

But hey third times the charm right?

Anyone who has read my previous blog entries will know I'm shit at updating this thing, but I promise I'll try harder... I'll post a proper snapshot of previous work that I'm especially proud of in a few days or something but if you are interested in the meantime, here is a link to the last blog: http://waaaaaaagh.blogspot.co.uk/

So out with the old and in with the new right? Well actually this is actually a return to the old, in both timeline sense and an army that I have much admiration for and have already collected a few times...

You can blame Forge World for this... The Night Lords Return...

A small something to wet your appetite, until next time...
