A Trip Down Memory Lane

So as I mentioned in my last post, this next one is to feature some of the work that I have done in the past that I am particularly proud of... This also adds a little colour to the blog otherwise its just inevitably going to be a sea of grey.

so without further ado, I present to you a Bad Moons Ork Lifta Wagon:

I remember this taking an age to paint as the model is so large. I looked around on google for a while for inspiration and saw numerous examples of this painted up in Deathskull colours, and felt like doing something a little more out the box.

While a lovely kit and being very happy with the finished result I remember that two things, one it was a massive pain to put together as the lifta-kannon was so heavy, and two it took ages to paint. I was particularly happy at how the yellow came out, with a quick wash of Nuln Oil/Badab Black Wash it gave it a nice grimey look.

I had intended at the time for this to be a start to a Battlewagon Brigade from the small bit of fluff in the codex about the Mighty Mangler of Bork, but alas like so many other ideas, I got side tracked...

...By these guys, of course First Claw were going to feature in this post! One of the things that I most enjoy about the whole warhammer universe is the background, especially the books from Black Library. If you are reading this and haven't read Aaron Dembski-Bowden's Night Lords Trilogy, then shame on you!

This squad cost me a pretty penny as I tried to make my representations of them as accurate as possible. I ordered numerous parts from the internet, to make sure that they looked worthy of the characters I was attempting to bring to life.

Many an hour was spent painting these guys and part of me is itching to re-do them, but the more sensible side shudders at the thought of the time and the cost it would take to improve on this basis.

That's it for now, when I get the time I'll make a second part to this, but I may have to take some photos first :D
